ICE Releases and Northampton County

After the recent-release window closes, a no-result is inconclusive. It can also reflect spelling, identity inputs, transfer, or a person who was never in ICE custody.

ODLS is designed for identity and custody-location questions, not a complete release-history report. The required country-of-birth value is part of both search routes. Name searches should stay exact. Repeatedly broadening criteria until a similar person appears creates a serious risk of attaching the wrong immigration record.

ODLS does not explain every immigration proceeding, supervision condition, or destination. It also does not replace the local jail's record of an earlier transfer. Preserve both records when custody moved from Northampton to ICE.
Meaning of ICE Release Status
ICE “release” is facility- and agency-specific. A DHS-VINE release message is another federal custody notification, but it does not explain immigration status or conditions. Treat it as a prompt to verify the event. It is separate from Virginia Jail VINE and VADOC's NAAVI system.

Northampton Jail to ICE Transfer
